Why DuitNow?
With DuitNow, you can transfer money instantly on 24/7 basis by entering mobile numbers, NRIC numbers, Passport numbers, Business Registration Numbers (BRN) or Army/Police Number registered as DuitNow ID of the recipients instead of the recipients' account details. You can transfer and receive funds instantly at anytime, anywhere via DuitNow.
How can I receive payments using DuitNow?
You must first register a DuitNow ID.
Where to perform DuitNow?
You can perform DuitNow transaction via HSBC Personal Internet Banking or the new HSBC Malaysia Mobile Banking App.
Do I need to register for DuitNow?
Registration is not required to transfer money via DuitNow.
However, for you to receive money via DuitNow, a one-time registration is needed to register a DuitNow ID to link with your HSBC account.
What if I have received a notification on DuitNow pre-registration?
For Malaysian customers with an active account and mobile number, we would have already pre-registered your mobile number as DuitNow ID by 1st December 2018 unless your DuitNow ID registration is unsuccessful or you choose to opt-out from the DuitNow ID pre-registration. To view, maintain or update your DuitNow ID, kindly log on to HSBC Personal Internet Banking or the new HSBC Malaysia Mobile Banking and select the DuitNow function.
What DuitNow ID is available for registration?
You can use the following ID for registration:
- Mobile Number (for Malaysians only)
- NRIC number
- Passport (for non-Malaysians only)
Are there any fees or charges to use DuitNow?
It is absolutely FREE to transfer and receive money.
How many DuitNow IDs can I register?
You can register multiple DuitNow IDs, as long as the DuitNow IDs have been verified and are available under the dropdown list. However, one DuitNow ID can only be registered to one bank account.
What type of bank accounts can I link my DuitNow ID with?
All HSBC / HSBC Amanah current and savings accounts.
Can I change the account linked to my DuitNow ID?
Yes, you may change the bank account linked to your DuitNow ID via HSBC Personal Internet Banking or the new HSBC Malaysia Mobile App.

What happens if I close my bank account linked to my DuitNow ID?
If the linked account to your DuitNow is closed, sender will not be able to initiate any fund transfer to the closed account. The DuitNow ID will automatically be deregistered.
Can I register my mobile number, NRIC and Passport (for non-Malaysian only) as DuitNow ID to the same bank account?
Yes, you may link multiple identifiers such as your mobile number, NRIC, and Passport (for non-Malaysian only) as DuitNow ID of the same bank account. However, each identifier can only be registered and linked to one bank account only. DuitNow payments directed to your registered DuitNow ID(s) will be credited into the bank account you linked with. Eg. Amy can link her NRIC and Mobile number to her premier account 305-XXXXX-XXX account, hence if someone were to transfer funds to Amy's NRIC or Mobile Number, the funds will be credited to her premier account 305-XXXXX-XXX.
Can I register my mobile number, NRIC and Passport (for non-Malaysian only) as DuitNow ID(s) to different bank accounts within HSBC bank?
Yes, you may link your mobile number, NRIC, and Passport (for non-Malaysian only) to different bank accounts within HSBC bank. Each identifier can only be registered as DuitNow ID and linked to one bank account only. For example, if your mobile number is registered as the DuitNow ID for HSBC Premier Account, the same mobile number cannot be used as DuitNow ID for any other account with HSBC Bank and/or other participant banks. Eg. Amy can link her NRIC to Premier account 305-XXXXX-XXX and link her mobile number to her Advance 303-XXXXX-XXX.
Can I register my mobile number, NRIC and Passport (for non-Malaysian only) as DuitNow IDs to the different bank accounts in different banks?
Yes, you may link your mobile number, NRIC, and Passport (for non-Malaysian only) to different bank account each in different banks. Likewise, the same identifier cannot be used as DuitNow ID for more than one bank account. Eg. Amy can link her NRIC to her HSBC premier account 305-XXXXX-XXX and mobile number to other banks.
Can I switch my DuitNow ID which is currently registered with Other Bank to HSBC Bank?
Yes, there is feature called 'Switch to Bank'. This feature allowed you to change the existing DuitNow ID registered with other Bank to HSBC. It is only allowed when DuitNow ID status is Active.

How can I ensure that the person I am transferring via DuitNow to is the correct person?
Prior to performing DuitNow transfer, kindly do ensure the DuitNow ID belongs to the intended recipient. During DuitNow transfer process, once you have entered the DuitNow ID and necessary details, the recipient's name associated with the DuitNow ID will be displayed on the verify page. Do verify recipient's name prior to confirming the transaction.
I would like to register my mobile number as DuitNow ID, however my mobile number appeared under the dropdown list is not up-to-date. How can I update my mobile number?

How can I view the DuitNow ID which was already registered? Can I also view my DuitNow ID which was already registered with other banks too?
Yes, the DuitNow ID can be viewed universally if the same IDs are maintained by all participating banking.

I'm holding Army/Police ID, why can't I register my Army/Police ID as DuitNow ID on HSBC Personal Internet Banking or the new HSBC Malaysia mobile banking app?
For Army/Police ID, the DuitNow ID registration only can be done at any HSBC branches or via Call Centre. Once registered, you can perform the maintenance via HSBC Personal Internet Banking or the new HSBC Malaysia mobile banking app.
I am an HSBC Amanah customer and would like to perform DuitNow transfer via mobile app, however the new HSBC Malaysia Mobile App is not available in Amanah version, how can I perform the DuitNow transfer?
You can still download the new HSBC Malaysia Mobile app and perform the DuitNow transfer accordingly.
How quickly do DuitNow transfers occur?
As the name suggests (read: Do-it-now), DuitNow transfers occur immediately* and recipients will receive the money instantly.
*Subject to the processing by the Receiving Financial Institution (RFI)
Can I schedule a future dated and recurring transfer with DuitNow?
Yes, DuitNow supports future dated and recurring transfers. However, this is only supported on HSBC Personal Internet Banking.
Can I save a DuitNow ID as a favourite recipient?
Yes, saving a DuitNow ID as a favourite recipient allows you to perform subsequent transfers with fewer steps and security token is not required.
Is there a limit for DuitNow Transfer?
Yes, individual may transfer up to RM50,000. However, the limit is subjected to individual limit and bank's permitted limit. There will be a low value payment limit for DuitNow where individual is allowed to transfer up to RM250 per day without security token.
